Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized test for admission to prominent National Law Universities in India. The test is taken after the higher secondary examination or the 12th grade for admission to integrated under graduation programs in Law and after graduation in law for Master of Laws (LL.M) programs conducted by these law universities. This test was conducted for the first time on 11 May 2008 by NLSIU-Bangalore. Today, it has become one of the most prestigious examination in the country on the same lines as medicine and engineering. In 2016, nearly 50,000 candidates appeared vying for 1660 seats. This shows that just to get through, a student has to beat around 24 student and to get admitted to the top college, this number goes up to 100. The number of applicants is increasing manifold each year as once a student gets admitted to NLU, his/her bright career becomes guaranteed!
